Raíces programs are expanding their scope to include the area between Washington, DC and Philadelphia, and linking Latino and Caribbean cultural practitioners worldwide by creating actual and virtual Cultural Corridors. Raíces Co-Founder Yolanda Alcorta created the concept based on her participation in cultural activities in Washington, DC. Through her efforts, Latin performing groups from Honduras and Peru based in DC have performed at the annual Feria del Barrio in Philadelphia. We are planning to invite Philadelphia-based groups to perform in Washington, DC as well.
